Joseph Tocci, MSW, LCSW, served in the United States Marine Corps and completed two tours of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Joseph served as a Security Commander in his second tour to Iraq, leading a large security team throughout Iraq, where he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal from the Secretary of the Navy for his actions. Joe has a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from Salem State University, and has been a valued member of the Riser+Tread team since 2020.

Upon returning home from Iraq, Joseph worked in construction and then started in the role of Peer Support Specialist at the New England Center and Home for Veterans. In 2015, Joseph started working for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Brockton and Boston as a Peer Support Specialist for the HUD-VASH program. The HUD-VASH program supports veterans who are experiencing homelessness by assisting them with finding and securing permanent housing with supportive case management services.  Joseph works with veterans who have been diagnosed with severe mental illness, hoarding issues, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse issues. Joseph uses his experience as a veteran to engage with clients, helping them build self-determination, confidence, and a better quality of life.

Enthusiastic, empathic, and compassionate, Joe strives to help those in need and develop the best treatment plan for each individual. He works closely with his clients and takes the time to listen and validate their feelings, meeting them where they are at. Joe also works closely with community agencies throughout the state to make sure that the needs and services are met for each client to be self-sufficient and independent. At Riser+Tread, Joe focuses on providing support as a Clinician/Coach by connecting with clients, helping them set clear personal goals, providing them with a fun and flexible outlet to get active while also learning about mental fitness, and helping each client reach their full potential. Joe has worked with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD, as well as other challenges.

In his free time, Joseph enjoys spending time with his family, taking hikes with his daughters and dog Rusty. He loves to spend time outdoors and is hoping to do some more traveling and exploring around the United States in the future.
