John Ciervo, LMHC


John J Ciervo, LMHC,  earned his Masters In Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cambridge College M.Ed – Counseling Psychology, and Holistic MBP CAGS from Lesley University.


Prior to joining Riser+Tread, John worked in Program Director positions in Behavioral Health hospital settings and agencies. He has a vast work history that includes Steward Health Care,

Private BH hospitals and private practice. John is currently Senior Faculty Adjunct at Cambridge College in their Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters Program. John also was faculty at Lesley University and Boston University in master’s Level Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs.


John focuses on building Therapeutic Alliance using a modality of treatment individualized for each client. Utilizing talk-therapy, DBT, coaching, solution-focused and mindfulness he meets his clients where they are and helps them to define their goals for a healthier mind and body. When appropriate, John uses EMDR treatment for anxiety and fear challenged clients. He is ever present and aware of his impact on his clients and strives to make his approach non-judgmental and open to all who seek help.


John is currently the President of MaMHCA, Massachusetts Mental Health Counseling Association and works for social justice, mental health advocacy and reform in healthcare.

John is passionate about making his home life a sanctuary for laughter and fun with friends and family. John loves animals, especially dogs, the gym (former Personal trainer) and a spouse that makes his life complete.
