IMG_3653.heic

Ben Getman, LMHC, earned his MA in Counseling Psychology at Framingham State University.  Prior to joining Riser+Tread, Ben has worked in the field for six years, in both local school and community mental health settings, including Wellesley High School. Ben specializes in working anxiety and depression, those who have experienced trauma, or clients wanting to work through issues related to their sexuality or gender identity. Ben has extensive experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds to help them both set and achieve key goals, and has also collaborated with several collateral agencies on how best to support the LGBTQ+ community’s mental health needs. Ben is currently earning a certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Trauma Research Foundation.

Ben uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and coaching. These different approaches work well with those who are seeking to alleviate stress and anxiety, manage depression, improve self-esteem, handle major life transitions, and work through complicated relationships with friends, family, and significant others.

When not in therapist-mode, Ben enjoys watching movies, cooking, playing video games, and practicing the guitar and piano. He is an avid meditator and began a long (and painful!) journey in weightlifting after the pandemic.
