Ben Getman, LMHC

IMG_3653.heic

Ben Getman is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and earned his MA in Counseling Psychology at Framingham State University. He is also currently working toward a certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Trauma Research Foundation.

With six years in the field, Ben has extensive experience working with a wide variety of clients to help them achieve their goals. Ben specializes in working transition-aged clients (ages 16-25) with anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as LGBTQ+ clients wanting to work through issues related to their sexuality or gender identity. Ben also works with children, adolescents, and their families to provide support in planting seeds for success as they get older.

Ben's approach centers around building meaning and purpose, identifying values, and developing the knowledge and skills necessary to meet goals. Ben uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness meditation, and Coaching. These different approaches work well for those who are seeking to alleviate stress and anxiety, manage depression, improve self-esteem, handle major life transitions, and work through complicated relationships with friends, family, and significant others.

When not working with clients, Ben enjoys watching movies, working out, cooking, video games, and playing music. He is an avid meditator and began a long (and painful!) journey in weightlifting after the pandemic.
