Prior to joining Riser+Tread, Andy worked as an outpatient therapist at Riverside Community Care, one of the largest non-profit behavioral healthcare organizations in Massachusetts. Before becoming a therapist, Andy spent five years working in finance for a top investment bank, as well as one of the largest private equity firms. While in finance, he saw the impact that a competitive, high-stress environment can have on one’s mental health. During this time, he developed a strong passion for helping people solve their problems both at work and in their personal lives. This experience motivated his professional transition, as a way to help others on a daily basis.
Andy focuses on using a blend of Therapy + Coaching in his work, with most clients being male adolescents and young adults. He has experience in working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Andy uses a blend of therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Typical themes include building self-esteem, overcoming fear and worry, improving relationships, personal development, cultivating mindfulness, handling life transitions, and finding greater meaning in life.
